I'm sharing a special announcement especially of interest for all Washingtoniettes! Tomorrow there is a darling sweets parlor opening its doors for the first time on Macomb St. in NW Washington. It's just a short distance from NCS, the Cathedral, and my house so I'm absolutely bubbling over with anticipation of having another cupcake spot to bop into!
Owners of favorite DC hot spots Jetties, Smith Point, the Rookery, etc. are hopping on the cupcake bandwagon. As Daily Candy put it this morning, "Dearly beloved, we shall gather together tomorrow to witness the happy union of tongue and frosting in blissful matrimony. In honored tradition, we assemble with Something Sweet, something new, something borrowed, and something to chew."
The shop will not only sell cupcakes but also delectable indulgences like brownies, biscotti, and old-fashioned layer cakes in flavors like German chocolate, carrot cake, and coffee buttercream. I wonder if they will have anything gluten-free? I can't wait to scope it out! Part cupcakerie and part old-fashioned ice cream parlor, Something Sweet is harkening back to the early days of Giffords of Bethesda by selling milkshakes, custom "chipwiches" (anxious to find out what these are) and custom ice cream sundaes complete with a full topping bar.

I wish there was a bakery like that I could walk to!
This. is. trouble. Only mere blocks from me! Thank goodness I am running so much - maybe I can use that as an excuse for the daily trips I am sure I'll be taking to Something Sweet?
I saw that in the Daily Candy DC this morning... DANGEROUS for me!
That sounds fantastic! I could go for a cupcake right now.
Thank God they're finally opening Something Sweet. If their cupcakes are only half as good as their guacamole at Surfside, I'm in big trouble.
Oh, no! This could be bad for me! Another cupcake shop opening in DC = excess pounds pour moi.
Perhaps this place would be the perfect venue for a DC blogger meet-up?

How exciting! I'll have to check it out when my Georgetown internship resumes :)
