Mrs. John l Strong

I was sad to read that Mrs. John L Strong, the incredible hand-engraved stationer since 1929, has closed its doors. The company was started by Flora Strong during the depression, and for over 75 years has produced beautiful stationery sought-after by all fine papier connoisseurs. Customers included the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Oprah, and even Vogue's editor Anna Wintour. I will miss her "strong vanilla" paper envelopes!

Above, a picture of Nanette Brown, who bought the company from Mrs. Strong.

Hi. I am so glad you found my blog. Yours is very cute and now I'm a reader of yours. :) Congratulations on your graduation from Cornell. That is quite an accomplishment! We are planning a trip back there this summer. I could sure use any advice about the campus, area, life on the hill that you would care to give. :)

Unfortunately, so many of the 'graces' have fallen by the wayside. People just don't use stationery like they used to. Too many conveniences, such as e-mail, texting, etc. Too bad, though.
